And the Lies are ...
- What "payments" for adopting the rules? Where is your proof? Just another unsubstantiated
wild claim from Ask Damascus!
- What "Metro Rules" have been adopted again? What evidence is there that this has
affected property rights and values?
- How is the "input" "meaningless"? Many hours have been spent on open house, coffee
klatches, and council testimony to collect citizen comments. These comments have
had direct influence on the planning process.
The reality is that the City has about 30 different agreements with other government
entities for items such as fire protection, police protection to janitorial services.
IGAs allow the city to offer services through a contracting model and save the citizens
money.
The city cannot afford to hire it's own police force. Using an IGA dramatically
lowers the costs that would normally be associated to this service. If this
measure passes, the enhanced city police presence will be gone! Improving safety
was the second most important reason citizens gave as their reason for wanting a
City.
Costly and ill advised ... this does not belong in the city charter.Vote
