Ask Damascus Claims:
And Another Claim:
And the Lies are...
- Light rail is only part of the issue! Nowhere on their website do you hear the full
story regarding restricting ALL mass transit.
- Although the 30 year map shows
potential Light Rail planned for Damascus, the City Manager DOES NOT
confirm this in the interview.
- The Map shows all
possible routes in the Portland region, yet the note on the side of the map says
there is only money to do 10% of these routes.
Seriously? Restricting something that may happen 30 years from now?
This is a solution in search of a problem!
Also, in order for Tri-Met to even begin serving the Damascus area, it would
already require a vote of the people for the business taxes that would
be required.
Mass transit (like Sandy's SAM) allows people of all ages to get around--older folks
and younger folks. Having no mass transit isolates our elderly neighbors and family
members, as well as students/youths.
Monopolies of mass transit is ridiculous--how many competing small transit companies
do you think there will be vying for Damascus ridership? We'd be lucky if there
is enough ridership for one to provide the service.
Lastly, businesses depend on mass transit for their workers. This is in part
why businesses pay a tax for Tri-Met service. This measures send a message
to the region that "Damascus is not open for business".
Unnecessary, redundant, unfriendly to business ... this does not belong in
the city charter.Vote NO on 3-350!
